Welcome to Hurricane Class
We are the Year 5 and 6 class at Hemswell Cliff. We work hard at all times and always try to be ready, respectful and safe. During this year, we will undertake lots of fascinating learning linked to such things as Earth and Space, Electricity, Crime and Punishment and Natural Disasters. Our English lessons will be based on a range of texts including ‘The Mountain Rescue Dog’ by Juliette Forrest and ‘Song For A Whale’ by Lynne Kelly and we also enjoy participating in regular whole class Guided Reading sessions. Hurricane Class are given weekly Homework where they are encouraged to further develop their skills in reading, spelling and recall of multiplication and division facts. As well as providing additional learning opportunities, this also enables them to get into good routines ready for transition to secondary school. We are very much looking forward to our residential trip to PGL where we will be able to participate in many new and exciting activities. Our photographs show some of the wonderful learning we have been doing recently.
In our First Aid lessons, we learnt about such things as the effects of having asthma, how to bandage wounds and how to carry out CPR.
